There are numerous types of care which are commonly classed as: primary, secondary, tertiary, and quarternary care. The classifications are based on how complex the needs of the patient are and what specialties are need within the medical field. Primary care being the most basic and consisting of occupations such as nurse practitioners and doctors. On the other side of the spectrum, quarternary care is a very special and specific type of treatment such as for a certain disease or condition.
